Akon Passed on Signing Drake to Konvict Muzik

Akon changed the rap game forever and is now trying to change the lives of millions of Africans as he is helping to bring electricity to 600 million people living on the Dark Continent after launching the Solar Academy. Sitting down with Montreality, the mogul shared he previously passed on signing one of the big names in music. 

Halfway through his interview with the Canadian outlet, Akon praised Drake and admitted he is the current leading artist in the industry. He then revealed Kardinal Offishall brought his music to the Konvict Muzik boss’ attention back in the early stages of the Torontonian’s career, but he didn’t show any interest and passed on signing him. Akon explained the reason for his decision was Drizzy didn’t sound like the star he would ultimately become.
