TIDAL made an unexpected move while competing with the other streaming services out there. Last week, the Jay Z-helmed platform announced it will be exclusively selling physical copies of Prince’s new solo album HITNRUN. However, their exclusivity tactics didn’t really work out this time around.
Initially,
TIDAL spread the word it will be the only source providing hard copies
of the project for a total of $25.58 (including shipping), but it turned
out that other retailers have also put their hands on the CDs, too. For
an instance, you can buy one at FYE in Washington, D.C. for $14.99, P&P reports.
Not to mention HITNRUN is also available on Amazon for $13.98 and you can also cop a digital version on iTunes for $9.99.
Well, that’s another fiasco for TIDAL. Maybe the reports Jay Z is looking forward to depart from the company don’t sound so far-fethed anymore.
